Basiccolor display squid3 test12/10/2023 ![]() they weren't the easiest to contact or get a decent response from as at the time i considered buying it but wanted to see what users problems were and their forums are best place for that. I had a slight issue with coloreyes not letting users to even view their forums unless you bought the software and the 2 men who run things. ![]() and would advocate the Spyder 3 with version 4.01 (or is it. I use NX2 exclusively and hardly even open photoshop anymore. I have an excellent copy of HP lp2475w that exhibited none of the issues some owners had with them, i either had good firmware or a good panel but for $500 plus tax on the HP from provantage at the time, i promptly sold my NEC which to my eyes wasn't worth $500 more.Įither way good luck you can spend for ever on this. Using the spyder i will say the software version 4 is a joy to work with in comparison and has different modes depending on how deep you want to take it and the available settings on your monitor. anyhow when i noticed tool failed was i started getting profiles with a reddish, pink hue yet they showed themselves as having a very low de. the color values it checks are not setup for wide gamut. The test "validator" is part of software accessed under "help" in the tool itself. i had used 2 versions of xrites software as i started with 3.61 and went to 3.62 which were last versions they had at that time. I found this out while researching the Spyder3 to replace my failed i1Display 2 which was telling me i have excellent profiles and hardware was fine as xrites test for the tool are flawed, they don't give correct info using the supplied software on wide gamut. I say supposedly as i haven't personally looked at the two units myself. The upgraded software makes it all work which (i believe) you don't get with that model. with "some" users reporting they were able to peel off the piece they supposedly stick over the ambient light sensor on the lower models. The pucks would appear otherwise to be the same in their color response and should be equally good for use with the basICColor software. Yes, that's what the small window is for. Maybe it is for "ambient" light reading? I have asked the same to Datacolor and waiting for their reply. ![]() Notice the small window below the blue circle.
